"The Polymath" by Patricia Murphy (B.A. '68) depicts Bernhard Banaschewski, Mckay Professor of Mathematics, at work in his study. Dr. Banaschewski joined McMaster University in 1955 and served twice as department chair. He raised the stature of the department through his many research contributions in algebra, topology, and foundations.
